Burns issues mission statement

Carroll County Sheriff Tony Burns issued the following mission statement for his department Jan. 19:

"The Carroll County Sheriff's Office is dedicated in establishing a local governmental entity that is both open and accessible to the citizens of our county. We actively encourage citizen involvement so we can create a respectable partnership with the community to improve quality of life and maintain public confidence. We are committed to ensuring public trust by safeguarding the lives and property of the people we serve, and devoting ourselves to reduce the incidence and fear of crime while upholding the constitutional responsibilities of the Office of Sheriff. We want to build upon new ideas as we continue to partner with the community to provide quality public service. We will strive to serve our community and work together to keep Carroll County a safe place to live, work, play and visit."
