Tri Kappa offers scholarships

Several State Tri Kappa Scholarships will be awarded to college students through out the state this spring. Since 1914, Tri Kappa has provided over $5 million in local and state scholarships.

The Delphi Gamma Alpha Chapter of Tri Kappa may sponsor one candidate for each type of scholarship. These scholarship applications are due Feb. 15 and can be obtained from Darice Sheiss at (765) 268-2528 or Melissa Maxwell at (765) 268-2720. Qualifications are as follows:

Tri Kappa State Academic Scholarship - Applicants must have completed one year of college and be enrolled full time. They must have strong academic achievement, strong goals, extracurricular activities, work experience and volunteer service.

Key Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to those who have no previous degree and have not been in school for a minimum of five years. You must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours and have no more than one semester of classes before applying.

Fine Arts Scholarship - Students must be enrolled in area of concentration - dance, drama, art, or music and be focused upon either performance or education.

Twannette Nutter Fleming Award - Applicant must be enrolled full-time in the area of music education, have a strong academic record, community service, and plans to teach music in a private or public school.

Gamma Alpha Chapter also sponsors local scholarships. Applications are available at the high school guidance office and are due April 1. They are as follows:

Tri Kappa General Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to seniors who plan on continuing their education, have a strong academic record, considered to be of high moral character, and involved in extra curricular activities as well as community service.

Hilda Bowen Nursing Scholarship - Applicants must be accepted to an accredited school of nursing which grants an associate degree, diploma or bachelors degree or to a licensed practical nurse program.

Tri Kappa Terri Holloway Oliver Scholarship - Awarded to an average student who is planning on studying in the field of business (desired, but not required).
