Library News Burlington Burlington Community Library is truly a free library. Membership is free for those who reside in the Burlington community. "We are small, but nice," said Gina Nunn- Tull, director. "Most of the library's patrons and volunteers are seniors." The library recently initiated a seniors materials enrichment program. To start the program out, a local woman donated a subscription to Reader's Digest in large print. The library is taking advantage of a discount program for small libraries offered by Thorndike Press. Since mid- November the library has been receiving never-beenreleased, large print fiction. The library will receive three of these books a month through May and some of the titles received are by Nora Roberts, Nora Roberts writing as J.D. Robb, Stephen King, Higgins Clark, and Dorothy Garlock. The library was recently notified that it will receive a Carroll County Community Foundation matching grant. These monies will go towards audio books, movies and requested books that appeal to the retired/senior population. Seniors who have requests, are asked to put them in before the end of January. Library hours are 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Camden Camden Public Library has a new display cabinet in the children's room. The cabinet will be used to display different collections. The first display will be "Thomas, the Train Engine" and all of his friends. The collection is on loan from Chad Canen. It is a great collection and worth stopping in to see. Anyone who has a special collection to share is asked to stop in the library and tell staff about it. Delphi Basic Guitar classes are scheduled for Thursday afternoons through May 3, beginning immediately. Aspiring guitarists ages eight and up will learn basic fingering and chords with a concentration in rock or country music. Guitarist Mateja Saiz will instruct students in country from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. and rock music students will meet from 4 to 4:30 p.m. A few spaces are available for the two sessions and registration is required. A small instructor fee is due at the beginning of class. Scott Greeson is the featured musician for The Coffee Beat, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. Greeson's style, a format blending folk, traditional, bluegrass, alternative country and acoustic blues, has been dubbed by radio stations as 'Americana.' The music and coffee are free. Desserts are avaialable for a small cost. The film "A Simple Curve" will be shown at 7 p.m. Feb. 22. The award winning Canadian film is part of the library's iFilm 2007 series. Independent and nationally acclaimed films are shown and then discussed on the third Thursday of each month. The event is free and open to the public. The library now offers an in-house wireless internet service for patrons and the public. Anyone wishing to utilize this service should pick up details and log-in instructions from a staff member. Logins are only permitted from 10 a.m to 8 p.m. and will time out automatically after a two hour time period. For registration or information about library programs, call (765) 564-2929. Flora-Monroe Twp. The sixth annual Coffee Talk at the Flora Library, "Paying for College - Financial Aid Basics," will be Feb. 3 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Coffee, refreshments and registration begin at 9 a.m. The library has partnered with the Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School Guidance Department to give parents and students the tools and information they need to pay for higher learning. This is a unique opportunity to discuss financing, education and training options with area experts, including Kris Seward, Carroll High School Guidance Director, outside of school hours. Learn about the products and services needed throughout the financial aid process including grants, scholarships and student loans. The FAFSA deadline is March 10 in Indiana. Registration is requested for this free informational program. Sign up at Carroll High School's guidance office, at the library's main desk or simply call the library at 967- 3912. Dust off your snow boots, shovel your sidewalks and come into the library for the Cabin Fever adult winter reading program. A prize will be awarded at the end of each week that a book is read. Everyone over 18 years is eligible to join. The Cabin Fever adult winter reading program runs through March 10. The next storytime will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the theme, "Names." We all have one, some are from family ties, and some are just crazy! Learn about names, what they mean and where they come from! The library's Dial-a-Story is open 24 hours a day. Call 967-3814. Rossville Library Friends of the Rossville Library will have a book sale Feb. 8-12 at the library, located at 400 W. Main St. Hours are: 5-7 p.m. Feb. 8; 3- 5 p.m. Feb. 9; 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., Feb. 10; and 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Feb. 12.
