Lessons from the Heart
Meditation for January The disciples came to Jesus, asking, "Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?" And Jesus put a child in the midst of them and said, "I say to you, unless you become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." Let go of ego and the urge to be in control. Let God be in control. This is the beginning of a child-like spirit. Trust and acceptance are necessary to being able to enjoy the beauty and pleasures of God's world. This is the paradox of God's wonderful realm. The more we try to build ourselves up, the smaller our world becomes. The less we make of our selves, the more we have. Simple joy, laughter, and an accepting spirit will go a long way in overcoming a critical and bitter heart. Prayer for New Years Day Come Holy Spirit; rekindle within me a child like heart. Today I chose to let you lead me, Lord Jesus, as if I were a child. Tom McShannock is pastor at Faith Lutheran Church near Deer Creek. Pray for our nation to seek God Jesus therefore said to him, "Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe." John 4:48 Pd. Adv. |
