Free Tech Tuesdays starts Jan. 23

A tentative schedule has been set for Tech Tuesdays, computer education classes being offered at Carroll Elementary School on Tuesday evenings beginning Jan. 23.

All workshops will be held in the Elementary Computer Lab from 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday evenings through Feb. 26.

There is no fee to attend.

A tentative schedule of workshops is listed below:

Jan. 23 & 30 - Computer running slow? This workshop will deal with basic computer maintenance, repair, and upgrades. Topics of discussion will be memory upgrades, replacing video cards, modems, etc., as well as how to clean out old, unwanted files, folders, programs that may be slowing your system down.

Feb. 5 - An introduction to the World Wide Web and webbased email clients. Emphasis will be placed on how to effectively research using the WWW without becoming lost in the vast realm of the Internet.

Feb. 12 - The power of PowerPoint for Beginners. Howto create engaging PowerPoint presentations from scratch. The workshop will also introduce the huge network of free PowerPoint resources that are available.

Feb. 19 - The Power of PowerPoint continued. A continuation on last week's PowerPoint workshop with more emphasis put on the everyday use and how PowerPoint can make everyday tasks and projects easier. Large portion of time will be spent on how to use Microsoft PowerPoint with digital photography and scrap booking.

Feb. 26 - Digital Photography. An introduction to digital photography - how to use both your computer and online resources to print and store your images. Not sure where to begin when looking to buy a digital camera? This workshop will also deal with what sort of digital technology is available and how to make the right buying decisions based on your camera needs.
