Shooting victim out of coma
By Debbie Lowe

Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley reported Tuesday afternoon that shooting victim Domingo Bernardo Gonzales, 35, of 425 North Union St. has "just come out of a coma" at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Riley said the man is to be interviewed Jan. 25 or 26 to learn details about the Jan. 15 shooting incident in Delphi. ISP is in charge of the investigation by request of the Delphi Police Department.

According to records at the Carroll County Auditor's Office, the Union St. property is owned by D & J Management, LLC, and was sold on contract to Noelia R. Vega. The contract was later assigned to Mari Carmen Alvar.

Gonzales suffered multiple gunshot wounds at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Jan. 15 at the residence and has been unable to be interviewed by police due to medical issues.

According to Riley, the victim appeared to have been alone in an apartment at the time of the shooting, although there were other people in the building.

"I know the people (who lived in the house) when I see them," said neighbor Terry Goslee of 431 N. Union St. in a Jan. 23 Comet telephone interview. "They speak when they are outside. They are pretty good neighbors."

He said a little five-yearold girl from the house would come outside and talk to him occasionally. Goslee said that although it was reported in a another newspaper that no police were ever called to the residence, "that just isn't true."

The investigation is continuing and Riley urged anyone with information is asked to call the Indiana State Police at (765) 567-2125 or (800) 382-7537.
