Atkinson-McCarty

Lauren Atkinson and Allen McCarty of Virginia Beach, Va., announce their engagement. She is the daughter of Dick and Lesley Atkinson of Williamsburg, Va., formerly of Lafayette. He is the son of Bill and Debbie McCarty of Rossville and Terri Jones of North Manchester.

The bride-elect is a 1997 graduate of Harrison High School. She graduated from Purdue University in 2001 with a degree in fine arts, focusing on 3D design. She is employed at Flexible Benefit Administrators.

Her fiancé is a 1996 graduate of Carroll High School. He is in the U.S. Navy, stationed at the Naval Station, Norfolk, Va. He is currently on a six-month deployment.

A wedding is planned for the summer of 2007.
