Lessons from the Heart
Seek God's will
By Rev. Justin Wagner

This is a blessing for me to write this meditation. I consider it a wonderful opportunity reach out to the community with the love of Almighty God.

As I am writing this article, and as I sought the Lord for what to write, I thought about the amount of chaos in the world today. People, fearful about the future of our country, politicians making promises they cannot possibly keep, and claiming to have the answer to our country's problems. The wars all over the world, especially in Iraq, have people in an uproar. Our men are dying everyday. No one seems to have the answer to all of these problems. We wonder where is God in all of this? Why isn't he doing something about it? Well, in reality, the question is not where is God, because He doesn't change, and He's right where He has always been. The question is, "Where are we at with God?"

God gets blamed for all of the problems we have really created for ourselves. In I Samuel 12, we find Israel wanted a king to rule over them, Saul. The problem was, he was not who God wanted to be leader over Israel. He was who the people wanted. This created problems for Israel for the next 20 years. God got left out of Saul's leadership. God gave Israel what they wanted and it cost them some blessings (I Samuel 15). They were not an obedient nation, nor were they victorious.

For years, we, as a nation, have had what we wanted and have gotten nowhere but in a mess. We blame the government for the problems, but how many people really desire to see God's will done in this nation? How much time do we spend with God on a daily basis seeking His will for our own lives? We, followers of Jesus Christ, can make a difference. How? II Chronicles 7:14 has that answer. If you do not know Jesus as your savior, you are missing out on the greatest friend you will ever have. May God bless you.

Justin Wagner is pastor at Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Pray for our nation to seek God

When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. John 4:47 Pd. Adv.
