Oracle wrestlers win Hoosier Conference

The Delphi wrestling team has accomplished something that no Oracle wrestling team has done since 1994. The Oracles won the Hoosier Conference Wrestling meet.

Team scores were: Delphi 226, Benton Central 217, Tipton 207.5, Twin Lakes 187.5, Rensselaer 148, West Lafayette 111, and Sheridan 51.

The Oracles had all 14 wrestlers place in this tournament. They were led by Donovan Alderman at 119 pounds, Braden Atwood, 152 lbs., and Shane Evans, 160, all who were Hoosier Conference champions. The Oracles had runner-ups at 112 - Bob Floyd, 125 - Michael Atwood, 189 - Coy Pennington, and 215 - Carlos Garcia. Third place finishers were 140 - Cody Hayden and 285 - Wes Everett. Placing fourth were 145 - Tyler Beaudoin and 171 - Brandon Delaney. Fifth place finishers were 103 - Randy McIlrath and 130 - Nathan McTigue, and six place was Cory Smith.

"This was a total team effort," said Coach Mike Atwood. "We knew every point was going to count and the kids responded."

The Oracles will be in action again Thursday at Lewis Cass.
