Burlington Council appoints Davis
By Shawna Dreadfulwater

Davis
Robert Davis was sworn in as the third member of the B u r l i n g t o Town Council on Jan. 10. He replaces his brother, Dick, who died in D e c e m b e and will finish out his term.

Davis, a member of the Progressive Party, was sworn in by Clerk-Treasurer Tammy Dyer.

Councilman Norm McGill made a motion to appoint Davis as council president and Councilman Wayne Swaim seconded the motion.

Davis said he felt unqualified for the job, but if the other two councilmen declined the position he would reluctantly accept being president.

The council approved training for Dyer during the second week of March. Because the council meets the second Wednesday of each month, the March meeting was changed to March 7 at 7 p.m. to accommodate Dyer's absence.

Town Marshal Jill Hammond reported issuing one gun permit, towing one abandoned vehicle, and assisting the county on a stolen vehicle call.

Town bills were voted to be paid with no totals given.
