A next door neighbor told the Comet late Tuesday afternoon that police had been called in the past year to the two-story apartment building. She said the residence was not a rental unit, however a Hispanic woman, her daughter, son and perhaps another man lived in the downstairs apartment while the woman's mother resided upstairs.

Another neighbor out walking her dog said she walked past the residence at approximately 5 p.m. on Monday and heard a small child crying in distress.

Delphi Police Department Chief Ed Chapman declined to comment about the shooting. He said the state police press release was the only information available for release.
