William C. Ridenour Services for William Claude Ridenour, 90, of Burlington, were held Friday at Neptune Funeral Home, Burlington. The Rev. Peter Roussakis officiated. Burial was at Burlington Cemetery. He died at 6 p.m. Jan. 9, 2007, at Mulberry Health & Retirement Community, Mulberry. Born Aug. 3, 1916, in Burlington, he was the son of William Ancel and Iva Myrtle Yater Ridenour. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1934. On May 17, 1937, at the Burlington Methodist Church parsonage, he married Opal Marguerite Hankins, who survives. Mr. Ridenour was an automobile mechanic for many years and had worked at the Carroll County Highway Department. He was a member of the Burlington First Brethren Church and a 50-year member of Burlington Masonic Lodge No. 111. Mr. Ridenour had resided in Burlington for most of his life, over 70 years, and had resided 14 years in New Mexico. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, writing poems, and collecting rocks. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Larry Ridenour (wife: Hiltrud) of Los Lunas, N.M., and Barry Ridenour (wife: Gloria) of Clovis, N.M.; two daughters, Sherry West (husband: James) of North Las Vegas, Nev., and Cherry Armet of Flora; six grandchildren, Rob Ridenour of Albuquerque, N.M., Heidi Ridenour of Los Lunas, N.M., James West Jr. (wife: Heidi) of St. George, Utah, Crystal Groves (husband: Robert) of St. George, Utah, Deborah Penyak of Memphis, Tenn., and Tammy DeVos (husband: Chris) of Flora; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Lynn Ridenour; a granddaughter, Christy Gamble; and five sisters. | |||||
