Max B. Witter

Max Barnard Witter, 89, formerly of C a r r o l l t o n Township and Flora, died Jan. 6, 2007, at Milner Community Health Care Center, Rossville.

Born April 30, 1917, in Carrollton Township, Carroll County, he was the son of Date and Della Mae Barnard Witter. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1935 and from Indiana Business College in 1938.

On June 23, 1940, in Burlington, he married Margaret I. Hicks, who survives.

Mr. Witter retired in 1978 after farming in Carroll Township for 38 years.

He was a member of the Flora Church of the Brethren.

Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Karen Sue Garrison of Flora, and a grandson, Eric Howell of Delphi.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dean and George Witter, and three sisters, Lois Reagon, Mary Gillam and Nina Rinehart.

Services were held Monday at the Flora United Methodist Church. Pastor Larry DeVos officiated and burial was at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora.

Memorials may be made to the Flora United Methodist Church or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
