The Carroll chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently had a "Baby Items Drive" for the Kokomo Rescue Mission. The mission will distribute them to families in need.
Students collected 45 baby essentials. Included in the items were fleece blankets, socks, bottles, wash cloths, baby wipes, diaper ointment and other baby products.
The FCCLA annually helps the Kokomo Rescue Mission in other ways, too. The chapter has collected extra change from students during lunchtime around Thanksgiving and donated it to the mission to buy food for the holiday dinner.
This year and in past years, FCCLA students helped wrap collected items from the community for families' Christmas presents.
As a service club, FCCLA is involved in other activities. Members will be going to Bona Vista Preschool in Kokomo to spend a day with the kids. The visit is usually on Valentine's Day, which is during FCCLA Week. To prepare for the day of fun, members make treats for the kids, and plan crafts and games. Other activities typically include reading to them, presenting a puppet show, doing puzzles, and just spending time with them.
