Meetings
Delphi Lions Club

Delphi Lions Club met Jan. 3 at the Stone Barn. Guest speaker was Keith Chandler, director of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.

Chandler explained his duties as bringing businesses to the county and retention of those businesses already in the county. He reported he has participated in 16 ribbon cuttings.

The club's annual soup supper will be Feb. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stone Barn. Tail Twister Norm Miller set a new record for the number of fines assessed. There was a short discussion about a city-proposed skateboard park.

The next meeting will be Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Stone Barn. Carroll area Masons install officers

Chris Dyke of rural Camden was installed as Worshipful Master of Mt. Zion Lodge No. 211, Free and Accepted Masons. The event was particularly noteworthy in that the installing officer was his father, Bill Dyke, a Past Master of the Lodge, who in turn was assisted in the installation ceremonies by Past Master Wayne Downham.

Also installed into several of the chairs were Fred Hartman and Don Hickman, Jr. as wardens; Bob McCain, treasurer; Bill Veach, secretary. Don Hickman III and Gus Fuller will serve as deacons. Rounding out the officers' slate will be Rob Maxwell, Dieter Hantschel and Rod Squier, the immediate Past Master.

In his welcoming remarks to his officers and the assembled guests, Dyke stressed that he expects a very busy work schedule for the Lodge's members in the coming year. "Several initiations are already on the calendar and a number of community projects are on the drawing board," said Dyke. Standing out among them is the Lodge's 150th anniversary of its charter, which will coincide with Camden's 175th anniversary celebration later this summer.

With the mergers over the last few years of the Masonic Lodges of Delphi, Flora, Cutler, Bringhurst and Deer Creek, Mt. Zion Lodge No. 211, chartered in 1858, now serves the greater part of Carroll County and parts of the Logansport and Kokomo community.

Katie Cree gave the lesson.

A spaghetti dinner is planned for Sunday, Feb. 25.
