Emily J. Rife
Emily Jane Rife, 89, of Logansport, passed away Dec. 27, 2006, at 3:05 a.m. at Woodbridge H e a l t h Campus. She was born March 9, 1917, in Stanton, Ky. to Grover Cleveland Drake and Leely Green Rogers. At age 13, she and her family moved to Carroll County. She graduated from Rockfield High School in 1936.

She married Harold Everett Rife on July 13, 1941, at the Ninth Street Christian Church in Logansport. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1989.

After raising her children, Mrs. Rife worked at the H.W. Gossard Company, Logansport and Hildebrant’s.

Throughout her life she remained devoted to her family, her church and her friends. She was an incredible source of strength to them. Mrs. Rife will always be remembered for her honorable character and genuine compassion. Her legacy includes a strong, loving family and a wealth of good friends.

She enjoyed quilting, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.

Surviving are: two sons, Donald H. Rife (wife: Zeny) of Lafayette and Robert T. Rife (wife: Sue) of Palm Bay, Fla.; four grandchildren, Donna Rife of Lafayette, Robert Rife of Louisville, Ky., Jason Rife and Lisa Rife, both of Palm Bay; one sister, Mae Ferrier of Rockfield; three great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Laura Lou, two brothers, Russell Rogers and Gene Rogers, and two sisters, Nancy and Thetus.

Visitation and services were held at Fisher Funeral Chapel in Logansport. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
