Flora considers purchasing house on Columbia A house on West Columbia Street, owned by Doug Abdon, is for sale and the Town of Flora is considering purchasing it. “The property fits our longrange plan,” said council president Josh Ayres at the Dec. 27 year-end meeting of the Flora Town Council. It was decided to have an appraisal done before deciding whether or not to pursue purchasing the property that Abdon has valued at $45,000. The 2007 insurance premium for the fire department was discussed. The total package is $13,453, an increase of $1,128 from the previous year. Clerk-treasurer Joretta Tinsman pointed out that several of the benefits had increased, such as some additional family assistance, family counseling, and more. There are 22 volunteers on the town’s fire department. The following appointments were made: Plan Commission – Alan Flora, three-year term. Board of Zoning Appeals – Troy Helderman and Alan Flora, three-year terms; and Park Board – Charlene Davis, four-year term. Sunshine Publications has completed and delivered the digitized ordinances and resolutions on discs. Tinsman, was authorized to transfer funds as needed to clear up year-end business. The next regular meeting will be Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. |
