New group assists substance abuse, addiction treatment providers
The Association of Substance Abuse Providers of Indiana (ASAP-In), a subsidiary of Mental Health America of Indiana, has become a member of the States Association of Addiction Services (SAAS), a national group representing state addiction service associations in 44 states.
SAAS was started to ensure the availability and accessibility of quality alcohol and drug treatment, prevention, education and related services throughout the country. SAAS is the only national organization of state alcohol and drug addiction treatment and prevention provider associations.
ASAP-In is open to any addiction treatment or prevention program in Indiana interested in joining the group to promote effective addiction programming and advocacy for the addicted population.
High on the list of ASAP-In concerns is the lack of access to quality addiction treatment opportunities in the State of Indiana. Less than 20 percent of persons in need of treatment are able to access treatment services.
Addiction treatment and prevention programs interested in joining ASAP-In should contact steering committee chair Tom Cox at tomcox@ bloomington.in.us or Vince Failla at vfailla@communityaddicitionservices. org.
Mental Health America of Indiana focuses to promote mental wellness everywhere Hoosiers live, work and play, support emotional development of young people, empower Hoosiers to protect their rights and to direct their own mental health and well-being and to ensure access to quality mental health care for all everyday and in times of crisis.
