FSSA begins processing applications for healthy Indiana plan

Comet staff report

The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) has announced that applications for the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) are now being processed. To date, nearly 1,500 applications have been received by the agency and coverage will begin as soon as Jan. 1.

The agency anticipates enrolling approximately 50,000 Hoosiers during the first year. Applications are available online or through 1-877-GETHIP9 (1-877-438-4479). HIP will provide health insurance for uninsured adult Hoosiers between 19 and 64, whose household income is below two hundred percent of the federal poverty level (FPL), and who are not eligible for Medicaid. HIP requires each participant to make a modest monthly financial contribution, but the program is state subsidized.
