Delphi resident has it 'maid'
      Delphi resident Deb Mears will have it "maid" this year thanks to the Weiman Home Care Products' Maid for a Year contest. Mears was one of five winners to receive one year of bi-weekly maid service provided by Merry Maids, the largest home cleaning franchise in the world, and a supply of Weiman's most popular home care products.

Camp Tecumseh completes all-time record year
      YMCA Camp Tecumseh's 84th year will be its largest ever serving more than 35,000 campers. Founded in 1924 through an agreement between the Indiana State YMCA and a group of Carroll County community leaders, the camp has grown into one of the largest YMCA resident camps in the country.

New group assists substance abuse, addiction treatment providers
      The Association of Substance Abuse Providers of Indiana (ASAP-In), a subsidiary of Mental Health America of Indiana, has become a member of the States Association of Addiction Services (SAAS), a national group representing state addiction service associations in 44 states.

Council budget cuts bites into K-9 food supply
      Carroll County Sheriff Tony Burns was not willing to cease operations of the department's K- 9 program just because no money was appropriated in the 2008 budget for food and veterinary services. Instead, he decided to involve the community in the solution for the problem. And of course, the problem can be solved easily with more money.

ISP issues November report
      Indiana State Police at the Lafayette Post has released statistics for November. Troopers issued 1582 traffic citations and wrote 883 traffic warnings. Troopers also arrested 18 drunk drivers and made 41 criminal arrests.

Increase in hungry Hoosiers
      Indiana has seen significant increases in the percentage of children living in poverty, public school students receiving free or reduced-price lunches, and households with children under 18 receiving food stamps. These are indicators that a growing number of Hoosier children are suffering from hunger.

Carroll County Sewer district rep to lead group
      The Carroll County representative to the Twin Lakes Regional Sewer District is in line to become board president at the first meeting in January. Jefferson Township resident Wayne Garrison was appointed to the board in July 2006. The slate of officers for 2008 was announced at a recent meeting.

      Congressman Joe Donnelly, a member of the House Affairs Committee, introduced The Immediate Benefits for Wounded Soldiers Act on Nov. 15 to expedite benefits for newly disabled combat veterans.

FSSA begins processing applications for healthy Indiana plan
      The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) has announced that applications for the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) are now being processed. To date, nearly 1,500 applications have been received by the agency and coverage will begin as soon as Jan. 1.
