      Ah, there's something to be said about getting a win in your final game before Christmas break. Sort of makes you feel like all is right again, and that you've received an early Christmas present, with a full two weeks to savor it before facing your next opponent.

Western blows past Carroll 66 to 35

      The Cougars had their worst outing of the season last Thursday when Western blew them out, 66-35. Carroll dropped to 1- 4 for the year, while Western evened its record to 3-3. Carroll took the initial lead on an old-fashion 3-point play by Adam Tussinger. The Panthers tied the game at 7 and then took command of the game on a trey to close out the first period, 10-7.

DCHS swim records fall
      The DCHS boys' swim team broke two school records in its 92-83 victory over Twin Lakes. The 200 medley relay team of Kyle Price, Matt Keen, Andrew Burton and Jeremy Sterrett went 1:47.95 to break a 23- year-old school record.

Cougar 7th on win streak
      Behind Eric Miller's 26 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists, Carroll's 7th grade defeated Northwestern 45-36. Taylor Downham added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals, Brady Wiles handed out 5 assists while Ryan Spesard had 3. Miller again led a balanced scoring attack with 17 points in a game that saw all 11 players score. The Cougars easily defeated Logan Columbia 55-19.

Meade selected for all-area soccer team
      A Carroll soccer player has been named to the 2007 Lafayette Journal & Courier All-Area Soccer team. Junior Chase Meade, a forward, scored 12 goals and added four assists. A team captain, he was All-Hoosier Heartland Conference.
