"How To Successfully Appeal Your Property Tax Assessment," an educational program designed for owners of farmland and other working lands, will be presented by Indiana Farm Bureau and the Indiana Ag Law Foundation (IALF) on Nov. 20.

The program will be held in Indianapolis from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

The program is designed to help landowners be prepared in the event that they consider filing an appeal.

The costs of the program are being underwritten by the IALF, so attendance is free. However, because space is limited to the first 90 people to register prior to the deadline, pre-registration is required. The deadline is Nov. 14.

Among the topics to be covered during the session are the current assessment process and the environment in which assessments are now being done; information on procedural and evidentiary (or evidence) requirements for assessment appeals; tips on how to present your case; and an examination of issues, trends and appeals particular to ag property.
