Camden festival is Saturday
Like it or not, a change in seasons is just around the corner. But even in the midst of change, some things stay constant.
A prime example is the Camden Fall Festival coming Sept. 8. Visitors can enjoy food, musical entertainment, booths, contests, activities and displays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This year's celebration holds a few constants of its own, with a few new twists thrown in.
The United Methodist Church will offer breakfast at 6:30 in the community building to get festivities under way.
Camden library will hold a book sale during the festival.
A pie-judging contest will be held at 10 in the community building. The winner will be announced between 10:45 and 11.
A tricycle-big wheel race will be held from 11 to 11:30 in front of the community center. Participants can be any age and must provide their own pedal racer.
The 2007-08 Camden pageant and contest court will be announced at noon.
A "flying frog" contest is planned for 1 p.m.
A bubble gum-blowing contest will be held at 2:30.
Musical performances will occur at the following times:
• Tonsil Klackers, 9 - 9:45;
• Resurrection, 10 - 10:45;
• Chalisa Keaton, 11 - 11:45;
• Ross Larimore, 12:15 - 12:45;
• Denim and Lace, 1:30 - 2:30; and
• Jerry Wells (Hands Held High), 3 - 3:45.
Festival proceeds will support the Camden Cemetery project.
