Faith Lutheran Jr./Sr. High Youth Group will meet Aug. 19 at 5 p.m. They will have supper, play games, and make plans for the future.

The women of Faith Lutheran Church WELCA will not meeting during August.

The Good Neighbor Gals of Deer Creek met recently and went out to lunch at The Dinner Bell in Burlington. Those present were Betty Bell, Doris Jean Bryan, Deb Delaplane, Mary Ellen Johnson, Dot Fulton, Marilyn Hile, Liz Mylet, Helen Forgey, Ellen Herr and Dottie Delaplane.

The Annual Deer Creek Festival and Hog Roast will be Aug. 25, starting at 11 a.m. and continuing until 7:30 p.m. at the Deer Creek Community Center. Activities will include a bake sale, cake walk, children's games and contests (from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.). Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the "all you can eat" Hog Roast will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Baked goods for the bake sale and the cake walk are needed. Monetary donations are being accepted in place of furnishing pies. Those wishing to donate baked goods or money should call Diane Hylton White at 859-2233 or Lois Wallace at 859- 2695.

A surprise 25th wedding anniversary party was held recently for Mark and Marsha Maple at the home of Bryan and Janey Martin in Kokomo. Hosting the event were the Maples' children, Kyle, Ryan and Lindsey. As a special treat, the couple took a ride in a tractor and manure spreader like they did when they were married. Attending from the Deer Creek area were her dad, Fred Martin, and Wayne and Helen Forgey. There were approximately 100 people in attendance.
