Local photo in 'Country' magazine
      A photo of a Carroll County farm scene is in the August/September issue of "Country" magazine. Gail Seest of Mulberry, who took the photo and submitted it to the magazine, said the location was just northeast of Paint Creek Cemetery. The photo is an aerial view of farmers baling straw.

      Grand Effect Productions will open its 2007-2008 season with "ALICE IN WONDERLAND," adapted for stage by Paul Allen. The family musical will be presented at the Wells Community Cultural Center, 863 North Street, Lafayette, on Aug. 23 through 26, each evening at 7:30. Commissioners stand firm on sewer district decision
      Although the Carroll County Commissioners were implored to change their minds about filing a law suit against the Twin Lakes Regional Sewer District with threats of spending more money than the county can afford for the action, they stood firm at their Monday morning meeting.

      Kelvin and Julie Overholser Ford, 761 Blue Jay Way, Pittsboro, are parents of a 7-pound, 1-ounce son, Gabriel Owen, born July 27 at St. Vincent Women's Hospital, Indianapolis. Grandparents are Gary and Renita Overholser of Cutler and Ruby Henderson of Wichita Falls, Texas.

      10 YEARS AGO This past weekend Dave Mills of rural Flora shot his 6th hole-in-one at the Frankfort Golf Course while playing with a group from Flora. The Andersons, Inc., hosted the grand opening of the new offices of the Carroll County Division of Family and Children, last week, at a ribbon cutting ceremony and banquet.

Half-scale wagon
      One of the newest exhibits in the canal Interpretive Center in Delphi is an exact half-scale model of a wagon made by Delphi Wagon Works in the 1880s. The original wagon was called the "Fisher," named after one of the owners of the business.

      Camden Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Town Hall. Aim Hi E.H. Club will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 in Sharon Ashby's cottage at the lake. There will be a carry-in meal. The Town of Camden and Jackson Township will have a joint meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at the fire station to discuss issues of mutual concern.

Lakeside Foods issues recall of French style green beans
      Lakeside Foods, Inc. of Manitowoc, Wisc., is initiating a voluntary recall of 15,000 cases of 14.5-ounce French Style Green Beans because some cans may have been under processed and some cans may have leaked. While no illnesses have been reported, these cans have the potential to be contaminated with harmful organisms including Clostridium botulinum.

      Draper The 95th Annual Draper Reunion will be held Aug. 26 at Flora Community Park. Those attending are asked to bring a well-filled basket for the meal which will commence at 12 noon.
