Former Carroll High School football coach John Hendryx has accepted a one-year contract to head up the Northwestern High School football program. Coach Dan Robinson has taken a year's leave of absence for medical reasons.
Hendryx led the Cougars to a 113-48 record over 14 seasons, including the 1995 Class A state championship. He was also the corporation's athletic director. Hendryx left Carroll in 2004 to take the athletic director's position at Winamac High School.
Hendryx will also teach eighth grade science. His new team had a 6-5 record last year.
