Eldridge Eldridge The Carroll County Country Club located on Wilson St. in the north section of Delphi has a new general manager. That new manager is offering fun activities for everyone in the community from now until the snow flies.

Jeff Eldridge said that he signed a three-year contract in January to provide grounds maintenance, conduct tourn aments , manage the pro shop, supervise employees and basically do all that, which pertains to golf, at the club. He will also provide lessons and fit and re-grip golf clubs.

Eldridge is a 1995 graduate of Logansport High School. He furthered his formal education in Indiana, but eventually moved to Scottsdale, Ariz. He graduated in 2006 with twoyear turf and golf course management degrees from Mundis Golf School in Scottsdale.

When Eldridge heard about the opening at the local country club near the end of 2006, he made a telephone call to apply immediately.

"Shawn Hamilton, the president of the board, made me feel very comfortable from the first phone call," Eldridge said. "The Carroll County Country Club seemed like a really nice place to be because it is close to home and close to my roots."

Eldridge said that everyday someone visits to ask about the restaurant and to get a meal. In response to the demand the board of directors expects to open the restaurant to the public by the end of May.

Many weekly activities can now be enjoyed at the club. Every Friday night the club hosts a two-ball scramble and a cook-out starting at about 5 p.m. There will be a night golf tournament with a barbeque the second Saturday of the month beginning at 7:30 p.m. Membership and charity tournaments are scheduled throughout the summer and fall. And youth golf teams are invited to play the course and practice on a regular basis.

Because the goal is to make the country club a family-oriented facility, Eldridge said suggestions for activities and services are welcome. There is a fee scale for members and non-members as well as those who want to ride and those who want to walk the nine or 18-hole course. There is also a reasonable junior membership for the summer.

"The board of directors and the public have been really nice and welcoming to me," the Delphi resident concluded.

Eldridge can be reached by calling his cell telephone at (480) 290-4034 or by calling the club at (765) 564-2155.

With all the activities and an emphasis on family fun, would the pool be opened again? Eldridge said the idea is under consideration.
