JONATHAN NEWELL has a c c e p t e d membership into Phi Kappa Phi at Purdue University.
Newell The honor society recognizes sup e r i o r scholarship in all academic majors within the university.
Membership is limited to seniors and graduate students who rank in the upper ten percent of their class and juniors who rank in the upper five percent.
Newell is enrolled as a junior in the school of engineering. He is the son of Richard and Donna Newell of Delphi.
LEANNA SMITH of Deer Creek, a freshman at Ball State University, has been e l e c t e d chairman of Homecoming events by her sorority, Epsilon Sigma Alpha for the 2007- 2008 school year.
ESA is a service sorority that raises funds for Camp Riley, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and Easter Seals, Smith has participated in many events for her sorority this year, including Up Til Dawn and Ride-A-Harley for St. Jude, Habitat For Humanity, Race for the Cure - the Susan G. Komen 5K Breast Cancer Run, Presents for American Soldiers Overseas, Muncie Mission Walk, Christmas for Lafayette's Underprivileged Kids, and Radio Telethon for Riley.
She has served as an ESA Big Sister this semester for BSU students pledging her sorority.
Smith A 2006 graduate of Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School, she is the daughter of Robert and Bunti Smith.
CORY NORMAN, son of Greg and Susan Norman of Flora, was presented two awards at the Wabash College Student Honors Chapel on April 26.
He received the Underwood Award in Chemistry, which is presented to the top junior student majoring in chemistry, and the Howell Chemistry Award, which honors the upper class chemistry major.
Norman's parents, sister, and grandparents attended the ceremonies and the reception that followed.

of the Indiana General Assembly. As a page, students 13 years and older spend the day gaining a greater understanding about state government and how laws are made.
Pages tour the Statehouse and work alongside legislative assistants and interns. On session days, pages experience how a bill becomes a law as they watch legislators on the House floor debate issues. On committee days, the students witness where a bill receives first consideration and watch hearings where the public submits input.
