It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Merchants' Building at the Flora Community Park. Vendors will have flower, herb, and vegetable plants along with hanging baskets, wooden planters, birdhouses, trellises, and garden art for sale. More ... The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library, 220 N. Union St., will have a BOOK SALE Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. The Kokomo Stamp Club is sponsoring a S T A M P SHOW for postage stamp collectors on May 20 at the Johanning Civic Center in the Haynes-Apperson Hall, 1500 N. Reed Road (U.S. 31 North), Kokomo. The show is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More ... Maternal grandparents are Linda and John Angle of Lafayette and John and Bette McKinley of Lakeland, Fla. Paternal grandparents are Joyce McKenzie of Flora and Bob James of Delphi. Indiana gardeners may be used to the ups and downs of spring weather, but spring 2007 has been an unwelcome roller coaster ride! First, March's unseasonably warm weather pushed many plants to break dormancy earlier than "normal." Then, these plants were caught out in Old Man Winter's last gasp when unseasonably low temperatures - down to the low- to mid-20s - fell across the state. More ... 10 YEARS AGO Rail lines through Carroll County could be used as a means to haul nuclear waste through the county on the way to a nuclear waste storage site in Nevada. The U.S. Senate approved the storage site at Yucca Mountain, Nev., last week. There are nine nuclear waste travel routes through Indiana which are approved, including the Norfolk Southern line from Fort Wayne to Lafayette. More ... The library will be open until 7 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Library director, Gina Tull-Nunn, will no longer be in the office in the mornings; instead, she will be at the library from 5 to 7 p.m. on most Tuesdays and Thursdays. More ... The 6th annual Julie George Run/Walk will be held May 6 at Frontier High School. The run/walk is a celebration of the life of Julie George, who died Jan. 22, 2002, when she was a junior at FHS. Julie was active in cross country, basketball, track, cheerleading, choir and Sunshine Society. Because of her love of life and running, the run/walk was established. More ... Delphi Public Library will present "The Pursuit of Happyness," at 7 p.m. on May 17. The movie is based on the true story of Chris Gardner, a salesman who, when his wife leaves him, struggles with his son through homelessness, jail time, tax seizure and despair in a quest for Gardner to make ends meet and become a potential millionaire.
