Council to address personnel policy handbook issues with commissioners

      Carroll County leaders do not see eye-to-eye about how to manage some county personnel issues. Council members made it clear at their Monday morning meeting they are not happy with a recent decision by the commissioners and intend to work with the executive branch of county government to avoid conflict in the future.

Congratulations, Mary
      Today is an anniversary of sorts for Camden correspondent Mary Whitfield. She has been writing Camden news for the Comet for 30 years. She said she remembers the day that former Comet owner, the late Al Moss, came to her back door to talk to her about the job. She was taken aback that he came to the back door, but her next thought was "backdoor friends are our best friends.

      It seems that Carroll County Commissioners and community leaders, elected or employed, should, by their position of trust, be committed to the care and protection of all county citizens, including the elderly, as a priority interest of more significance than expanding IPC's specialty business interests.

What is the concern?
      The proposed dairy CAFO made headlines last spring for Democrat Township, and I have researched on-line off and on since. I have more thoughts and questions than ever. What sites do I concentrate on? I look at universities, government, health, and agricultural sites.

Who serves who?
      I have been scheduled twice for jury duty in the last two months and have been called both times that the trial has been cancelled. This last time, I got less than 24 hours notice of my cancellation and was given a new date to serve. Will the third time be the charm? Do any of the courthouse employees care about the inconvenience this puts those who choose to be on the right side of the law?
