      Carroll County has supported Kokomo Rescue Mission (KRM) by recently donating canned goods from the Flora United Methodist Church preschool. Jean Rinehart, Independent Longaberger consultant, sponsored "Walk A Mile in My Shoes," which benefits Open Arms, the Mission's shelter for homeless women and children.

Republican Central Committee to meet
      Carroll County Republican Central Committee will hold a party reorganization meeting March 3 at 10 a.m. at the Stone Barn on North Washington St. in Delphi. Anyone interested in running for the four officer positions should send a letter of intent to county secretary Beth Myers and to state party secretary Barb McCellan at least 72 hours prior to the meeting.

      Over the years, several Hoosier Homecookin' columns have been dedicated to recipes containing five ingredients. This week, I simplify things even further with some pretty tasty dishes made with only three or four items. Peachy Bacon Salad is simple, pretty and delicious. And, Bubba Beef is a quicker variation of a family favorite at my house. Wrap up this three-course meal with Speedy Cheesecake.

      Rock Creek EH Rock Creek Extension Homemakers Club met at the home of Marjorie Been. Roll call was answered by three members. Marjorie Been gave devotions. She also gave the health and safety lesson, "Go Bananas." She said bananas are good for depression, blood pressure, and heart burn.

'The Great Warming' to be shown March 4
      The Hoosier Environmental Council/Northwest Central Region is bringing the documentary, "The Great Warming" to this area. It will be shown at 3 p.m. March 4 at Thomas Duncan Community Hall, 619 Ferry St. in downtown Lafayette. The film will promote awareness about how climate change is affecting our planet, with a focus on local impacts and solutions.

      The Cass County Smoke Free Task Force will sponsor a FREE QUIT SMART smoking cessation class from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, March 6-27, at Logansport Memorial Hospital. The class is free, but space is limited. To register, call 574- 722-5151, extension 269.

Looking Back
      10 YEARS AGO Talent abounds at Carroll Jr.- Sr. High School and Friday evening much of the talent will be on display at the annual talent show which benefits the Memorial Scholarship Fund. Proceeds fund scholarships awarded to graduating seniors. County employees will soon be paid their wages every other week under a plan approved Monday morning by the Carroll County Commissioners.

      A soup and sandwich supper will be served, starting at 6 p.m., at Faith Lutheran Church. The Lenten service will follow at 6:45 p.m. All are invited to attend. The Deer Creek Community Center is having another Basket Bingo fundraiser on March 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the community center.

      Camden American Legion Auxiliary will have its annual Stanley party Monday at 7 in the Legion Home. Hostesses will be Helen Cree and Twylia Wertz. The public is invited. Volunteer firefighters will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Fireman's Lounge. Blood pressure checks will be given at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Fireman's Lounge.

Library
      Flora-Monroe Township Return the Borrowed Books Week starts tomorrow (Thursday) and runs through March 7. This is your chance to return any borrowed books (that haven't gone to collection) and have the fines forgiven. Just bring in non-perishable goods in exchange for the fine. The non-perishable goods will be donated to the Carroll County Food Pantry.

      A Spray Fundraising Dinner, to benefit Joshua Spray and his family, is planned for Sunday, March 18, at Flora First Christian Church. The schedule for the evening is as follows: 4-5 p.m. - First serving time. 5:30 p.m. - First entertainment. 6-7 p.m. - Second serving time.

Carroll Schools to host wheelchair BB tourney to benefit local students
      Carroll Schools have four children who depend on wheelchairs for their everyday mobility. To promote awareness of the diseases affecting these students and to raise funds to benefit the students, Carroll is hosting a 3-on-3 wheelchair basketball tournament on March 10. The tourney will begin at 9 a.m. in the Carroll Elementary gym.
