"The Shack" at Sunoco in Delphi, was moved last week back to Monticello where it was originally built. The building will be used for storage. Gasoline customers, who have paid at the building's window for the past twenty years, will now pay at the register inside the Dairy Barn. The Sunoco station was recently purchased by Kocolene Oil. Moving of "The Shack" is the first step in Kocolene's plans to transform the station into a "clean, bright, safe" facility, according to Kocolene President Gary Myers. The vacating of "The Shack" will allow for additional customer parking.

A workshop on nuclear disarmament will be held Sunday in the social room of the City Building in Delphi.
Citizens who feel there is no such thing as a limited or winnable nuclear war will share directions for responsible action.
Dale Seward kept his promise to Evelyn Chapman by wearing a Delphi Oracles Tshirt when Delphi defeated Carroll in a recent high school basketball game. He wore it for one week. If Carroll had won the game, Mrs. Chapman had agreed to place a Cougar license plate on the front of her truck for one week. It created many laughs for one and embarrassment for the other- all in fun!

What might have been a disastrous fire was avoided early Monday morning at Ockley, when Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Myers awoke in their smoke filled house.
Investigation disclosed that when electric power went off at 11:30,the automatic oil control failed to close permitting oil in the burner, causing a fire that engulfed the stove. Quick action in closing connections prevented more extensive damage.
The stove was replaced by Tom Witter who worked through the day to provide heat.
Mrs. Myers also reports that their yellow canary is now a "black bird" even after numerous baths.

Postmaster G.M. Jordan of Flora has been informed the past week that quite a drastic change will be made in daily mail train service here, same to be effective February 1st. After that time there will be but two mail trains every 24 hours in Flora, these being the southbound night train and the northbound noon train. However, another service that is being inaugurated and which may make even better service there will be the establishing of a star route (auto service) from Logansport to Frankfort and Frankfort to Logansport to serve the Flora office. The southbound star route will bring mail there at 6:15 a.m. and the northbound at 8:00 a.m. This mail will be put up early in the morning by the local postmaster and his assistants, which will make it possible for the patrons to receive mail about 3 hours earlier than heretofore.

The town board decided to have plans and specifications drafted and receive estimates for the paving of South Center street with brick and crushed stone.
After the estimates are received the property owners along this street are to decide whether the roadbed shall consist of brick or crushed stone. The property owners pay for the construction of the street on their frontage, while the town pays for same at all crossroads and alleys. The first work of the kind to be constructed will be from Columbia street to the south end of town.
