Oracle wrestler Donovan Alderman remains undefeated after Saturday's Individual Regional Tournament held in Logansport. Delphi took seven wrestlers to the tournament and all seven wrestled well, said Coach Mike Atwood. Alderman, wrestling at 119 pounds, raised his season record to 39-0 and won his first regional championship. Alderman pinned his first opponent, Van Ort. More ... The annual contest between the Delphi Oracles and the Carroll Cougars was just what you would expect for a county rivalry - a fight to the end. The visiting Cougars pulled it out in the fourth quarter for the 58-56 win. Kory Banes made the first basket of the game, followed by a three pointer by Michael Myers. At sectional, she scored 340.15 in the finals, with her nearest competitor only scoring 304.65 points. First through eighth place participants will qualify for Saturday's state finals that will be held at the Indiana University Natatorium, IUPUI, Indianapolis. More ... The Delphi Community High School girls' swim team ended its season with a ninth place finish at sectional. Senior Shannon Kremer placed third in the 200 Free and second in the 500 Free. Arielle Brosman was ninth in the 100 Breaststroke and Mara Burton was 12th in the 100 Free. The 200 medley relay team of Monica Hutsell, Brosman, Jenny Maxwell and Ashlee Buchanon placed 11th with a time of 2:16. More ... Carroll's game against the Class 2A ninth ranked Clinton Central Bulldogs was almost a carbon copy of their game against Northwestern last weekend. The Cougars were able to stay with the Bulldogs for most of the first half, but fell apart in the second half as the Bulldogs ran away from the Cougars 79- 47. This was the most points the Cougars have given up all season. More ... East Tipp falls to DCMS girls The Oracle 7th grade girl's basketball team was back in action last week at East Tipp. Delphi out played the much taller Trojans in the first quarter, leading 12-1 after one.
