Virginia R. Laughner
She lived most of her life in the Middlefork area before moving to Lake Worth in 2002. Born Sept. 12, 1932, in Clinton County, she was the daughter of Maurice and Mary Parse Ticen. She married Lewis D. Laughner on June 30, 1950, in Michigantown. He died on Jan. 29, 2000. She graduated from Forest High School in 1950 and worked at Delco Electronics in Kokomo for 42 years before retiring in 1992. She also worked on the family farm. Mrs. Laughner was active in Extension Homemakers, American Business Women’s Association, and the local Democratic Party. She enjoyed travel, gardening, playing the piano and organ, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by two children, Danny Laughner (wife: Judy) of Williamsport and Lou Ann Trost (husband: David) of Lake Worth; a sister, Patricia Bowers of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother-in-law, Jack Grant of Burlington; and two grandchildren. Her parents and a sister, Maxine Grant, preceded her in death. Services were Dec. 21 at Neptune Funeral Home, Burlington, with Pastor Dan Butcher officiating. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery, Clinton County. Memorials may be sent in memory of Virginia R. Laughner to the Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Fla. 33407. Cletus ‘Sonny’ Cook Cletus “Sonny” Cook, 64, of 2575 Kingsway #H, Lafayette, passed away at 8:06 p.m., Dec. 23, 2006. He was born Sept. 28, 1942, in Indianapolis, to Chet and Juanita Cook. He was a Vietnam War veteran and a member of the Air Force. Mr. Cook had owned various restaurants over the years. He enjoyed wood working and Bible study. He had attended the 1st Assembly of God church in Delphi. He was a graduate of Warren Central High School and Arizona State University. He is survived by his mother, Juanita Cook; his wife, Carolyn Cook of Lafayette; children, Chad and Tiffany of Arizona. He is also survived by three sons and one daughter, Bob Ebert of Brookston, Chris Ebert of Flora, Josh Cook of Chalmers, and Tina Cook of Lafayette; a sister, Charlene Borgman of Louisville, Ky.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held today, Wednesday, at 7 p.m. at the 1st Assembly of God church in Delphi. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the church. Pastor Brent Oliver will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the 1st Assembly of God church in Delphi. |
