Ruth L. O’Farrell

Ruth L. Hudson O’Farrell, 83, of West Lafayette, died unexpectedly on Dec. 24, 2006, at 6:40 a.m.

She was born March 22, 1923, in Delphi, to George and Mary Jane Crone Hudson. She married Francis E. O’Farrell in Delphi on May 10, 1944. He preceded her in death April 15, 2005.

Mrs. O’Farrell was a 1941 graduate of Delphi High School. She attended Millers College of Real Estate and many seminars and continuing education courses for real estate. She and her husband owned and operated O’Farrell Real Estate and Appraisals, with offices in Delphi and Logansport, for over 30 years, retiring in 1994.

Mrs. O’Farrell grew up in Delphi, then lived for many years in Logansport before moving to West Lafayette upon retirement.

She was a former member of All Saints Catholic Church in Logansport and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi. She most recently attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Lafayette. She was active in the rosary and altar societies of the churches.

Mrs. O’Farrell also belonged to the Altrusa Women’s Organization and Business and Professional Women’s Association in Logansport and Delphi. She enjoyed reading, embroidery and working puzzles.

Surviving are three daughters, Mary Jean O’Farrell, Kathryn Davis (husband: Jeff) and Sharon Albean (husband: Dave), all of Indianapolis; one son, Jim O’Farrell (wife: Karen) of Lafayette; four grandsons and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one infant son, Edward.

A graveside memorial service will take place Dec. 29 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Delphi, Father Peter Vanderkolk will officiate. The family will receive friends there prior to the service.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Indiana Veterans Home, Lincoln Hall second-floor women’s unit or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, in care of Abbott Funeral Home, 421 E. Main St., Delphi, IN 46923, who handled arrangements.
