Board of Works compensates officers
By Debbie Lowe

The Delphi Board of Works voted to financially compensate two officers for unused vacation days in 2006. The measure was unanimously approved at the Wednesday evening meeting.

Police chief Ed Chapman reported that two officers, David Yeager and Brook McCain, were unable to use all of their vacation days in 2006 due to the lack of manpower at the department. He requested the officers be financially compensated for the time. They would be unable to use the time before the end of the year. Chapman said the city saved more than $15,000 in salaries by not paying senior officers who left before the end of the year. The cost of paying the two officers for unused vacation was $2,617.12.

The next Delphi City Council meeting will be Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. The Board of Works meets at 6:30 p.m.
