Attend leadership symposium
Four Carroll County students were among 400 high school juniors who attended the 30th annual Richard G. Lugar Symposium for Tomorrow’s Leaders held Dec. 9 on the campus of the University of Indianapolis. Pictured with Senator Lugar are (l-r): Kylee German and Erika Hawn, students at Delphi Community High School, and Sean Smith and Kristen Arnett, students at Carroll Jr.-Sr. High School. Lugar opened the day speaking, answering students’ questions for 50 minutes. During his address, he discussed Iraq, energy prices, and the need for developing more sustainable energy. Additionally, he detailed the current state of U.S. relations with the international community. In smaller groups, students exchanged ideas and debated opposing views on ten different topics, including U.S. leadership in the world, energy security, homeland security, and media responsibility.
