Oracle wrestlers are invitational runners-up

Delphi’s varsity wrestling team came up 3.5 points shy behind the South Bend Riley in the 16-team Twin Lakes Invitational held Saturday. The Oracles had won the event the past two years.

Champions for the Oracles were: 103 lbs. - Gabe Kane; 119 - Don Alderman remained undefeated at 22-0 on the season; and 152 – freshman Braden Atwood won the tournament. Runners-up were: 112 - Bob Floyd, 215 - Carlos Garcia, and 285 - Wesley Everett. Michael Atwood placed third for the Oracles at 125. Coy Pennington placed fourth at 171 and Shane Evans placed fifth at 160.

Also last week, the Oracles wrestled the Red Devils of West Lafayette, winning 58-18. Winners for Delphi were: 103 - Kane, 112 - Floyd, 119 - Don Alderman, 130 - Cory Smith, 135 - Kyle Lashley, 145 - Tyler Beaudoin, 152 - Atwood, 160 -Evans, 189 - Brandon Delaney and 285 - Ryan Delaney.
