Church recognizes suffering during holiday season The holidays can be a stressful time for anyone, especially for those who have suffered a loss. Fortunately there are those who understand the grieving process and want to offer help. Delphi United Methodist Church, located at 118 N. Union St., is hosting a special Longest Night Service Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. The service is offered annually on the night of the year that has the most darkness. Candles are lit to symbolize hope in the midst of suffering. Anyone looking for relief is invited to attend the service. “Any time we experience a loss, whether it be by disaster, death, divorce, illness or job loss, we experience pain that can be accentuated by the fact that everyone around us is joyful,” Pastor Todd Ladd stated. “The time is designed to help those with the pain of loss and remind them there is hope in the midst of darkness,” he concluded. Services in the sanctuary will be followed by a small reception. Childcare will be provided. |
