Delphi Library News

Delphi guitarist Hunter Saiz will offer a basic guitar class on three consecutive Thursdays, starting Dec. 21, from 7 to 8 p.m. Participants will learn a variety of beginner folk songs as well as proper guitar care and technique.

The workshop is tailored for those who have little or no guitar experince. Saiz can provide guitars for five individuals or you may bring your own. A small instructor fee is due upon registration.

Travel the Fiji Islands, Hawaii and the Marshall Islands by way of a slide presentation and travelogue presented by Drs. Daniel and Mary Ann Nusbaum. The couple chartered a yacht in Los Angeles and spent several months on an ocean voyage exploring the culture and beauty of the islands.

The Nusbaums will also promote their recently published novel “The Last Reunion,” which takes place largely in Indiana.

In Stitches Fiber Arts Circle will meet Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. This is a great opportunity to catch up on some knitting, quilting or other fiber art or craft. Bring a work in progress and a snack to share with other guests.

Evening Book Club will meet Jan. 24 at 7 p.m to review the book “Saving Graces” by Patricia Gaffney. Morning Book Club will

meet at 9 a.m. on Jan. 26 to review “Gilead” by Marilynne Robinson. The review will be presented by Janet Hildreth. Multiple copies of the books are available in the adult circulation area.

Camden-Jackson Twp.

Camden-Jackson Township Public Library recently received a Community Enhancement Award presented by the Carroll County Economic Development Corporation and the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce.

The award was presented for significantly improving visual appeal of the library garden and the community of Camden.

Those who were instrumental in the preparation of the library garden were Barb McCain, Curt George, Billie Hedde, Elizabeth Morrison, Judy Berkshire, Jacquelyn Frye, and Reanna Morrison.

The library held a Dessert Recognition Thank You Party last week to honor the library staff and the many individuals who have done many things for and to help the library during the year.

Holiday hours are Christmas day - closed; New Year’s Day - closed. May you all have a wondrous and joyous holiday filled with family, friends and Christmas cheer! Seasons Readings! from the library staff to all of our wonderful patrons.

The library’s halls are decked out for the holidays. Browse through your favorite magazine or newspaper while you enjoy a nice cup of coffee or hot cocoa in the library’s Book Nook Coffee Shop. Candy bars and soda are also available. The Book Nook is open during library operating hours.

BookPage is a monthly publication available free to our patrons. A monthly general interest book review, Book Page covers the best in new releases. In the past ten years, BookPage has interviewed everyone from John Grisham to Norman Mailer, and typically reviews up to 100 of each month’s new fiction, nonfiction, business, children’s spoken work audio, and how-tobooks. The tone is upbeat and literate, focusing on bestsellers as well as new discoveries. Pick up the newest copy of BookPage in the library.

Storytime will be on holiday break for the next two weeks. It will return in early January with lots of great stories and learning opportunities.

You can still hear great stories 24 hours a day on the library’s Dial-a-Story phone line. Currently playing is the story of “The Visit to Santa Claus Land.” On Friday the new story will be “Snowball’s Christmas Eve.” Call Dial-A-Story at 967-3814.
