DCHS boys’ swim team wins Clinton Central Invitational, girls second

The DCHS boys’ swim team won its first ever Clinton Central Invitational on Saturday, winning 5 of the 11 events. Team scores were Delphi 113, Clinton Central 96, Attica 57, Pioneer 24. Sophomore Kyle Price and freshman Andrew Burton were both triple winners.
Delphi’s girls’ team also won 5 of the 11 events, but came in second. Team scores Clinton Central 102, Delphi 89, Pioneer 61 Attica 38.
Senior Shannon Kremer was a quadruple winner and also broke the invitational meet record in the 500 free. Junior Mara Burton was a triple winner.
The boys’ team started strong with the 200 medley relay team of Price, Matt Keen, Burton and Jeremy Sterrett placing 1st and Cole Nattermann, Andy Flora, Nick Force and Brandon Miller placing 3rd. Price took the 200 free while Force was 3rd and Brent Kremer 7th. In the 200 IM Jared Kelley was 3rd and Nattermann 8th. Burton was 2nd in the 50 free with Sterrett 5th and Flora 10th. Keen was 2nd in the butterfly.
Burton took the 100 free, with Kelley 4th and Miller 5th. Price won the 500, Force was 3rd and Kremer 4th. The 200 free relay team of Sterrett, Keen, Kelley and Burton took 1st. Nattermann was 4th in the backstroke while Miller was 5th. Flora came in 2nd in breaststroke with Keen in 3rd. The 400 free relay team of Price, Kelley, Miller and Force was 2nd.
For the girls, the 200 medley relay team of Monica Hutsell, Arielle Brosman, Jenny Maxwell, Ashlee Buchanon took 3rd. In the 200 free Kremer was 1st, Keltie Lake 4th, Kerisa Garrison 8th. Maxwell 3rd in the 200 IM, while Morgan Minnicus was 7th. Burton placed 1st in the 50 free, with Kayleigh Morgan 4th, and Buchanon 9th. In the butterfly, Morgan placed 4th and Maxwell 5th. Burton was 2nd in the 100 free with Lake 6th and Morgan Borden 10th. Kremer placed 1st in the 500 free, with Garrison 7th. In the 200 free relay, Lake, Morgan, Burton, Kremer were 1st. Hutsell came in 3rd in the backstroke, and Casey Keen 4th. In the breaststroke, Brosman was 3rd and Minnicus 7th. Delphi’s 400 free relay team of Lake, Morgan, Burton, Kremer placed 1st.
In two earlier meets last week, the boys split meets, defeating Tipton 96-66 and losing to Western, 103-79. The girls came up short both times, losing 95-78 to Tipton and 128-52 to Western. Kremer broke her 100 free record against Western with a time of 57.20.
