Announcements Stoney Creek will be lining the roads of its subdivision with LUMINARIES Dec. 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. Monetary and non-perishable food donations will be accepted for White and Carroll County Food Pantries. The subdivision is located near Monticello one-fourth mile south of Madam Carroll on US 421. The SWEARING-IN OF NEWLY-ELECTED OFFICIALS by Carroll Circuit Court Judge, The Honorable Judge Donald Currie, will be Dec. 22 at 12 p.m. in the Carroll Circuit Courtroom on the third floor of the courthouse. Delphi Common Council will conduct a SPECIAL MEETING in the council chambers Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. Items for consideration will be year-end transfers and encumbrances. Health insurance will be discussed as well. Carroll County senior citizens are invited to a HOLIDAY DINNER at Delphi Presbyterian Church Dec. 20. Dinner will be served at noon. A free CLOTHING AND TOY GIVEAWAY will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the basement of the United Methodist Church in Burlington. CARROLL COUNTY KIDS toy drive is underway. The annual drive is a means to collect toys and other gift items for children in the county who might not otherwise receive gifts for Christmas. The toys and gifts are dispersed through the Toy Store for Delphi, Camden and Deer Creek; and through churches in Flora, Burlington, Cutler, and Bringhurst. Gift drop-off locations include:, Jones’ IGA in Burlington and Flora Utilities Office and Salin Bank & Trust in Flora. Monetary donations may be sent to Donita Kennedy at 296W 400S, Cutler, IN 46920. The drive is sponsored by Flora Psi Iota Xi. The Delphi Chamber of Commerce distributes the INDIANA TRAVEL GUIDES. This information was omitted in last week’s Comet article about the guides. The RED CROSS BLOODMOBILE will visit Carroll County on Dec. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Flora United Methodist Church, 107 East Main Street. The area church with the most volunteer donors will receive $100, a gift from the Flora Psi Iota Xi. Each donor will receive a travel mug. To make an appointment, call 1-800-GIVE LIFE. Walk-ins are welcome. The Canal Association made 1,000 APPLE DUMPLINGS for its open house last weekend and sold out. To fill the orders for the individual frozen unbaked dumplings, volunteers are making more today. The orders can be picked up at the Canal Center this Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. No new orders are being taken. |
