May 90th birthday

Esther Marie Deckard May will be honored on her 90th birthday with an open house on Dec. 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. at University Inn in West Lafayette. Her daughters, S h a r o n Hantschel (husband: Dieter) of Delphi, Janet Johnson of Aurora, Colo. and Margene Sims Shugarts of Fairfax Station, Va., are hosting the event.

Mrs. May was born and raised in the Brookston area. She married Clarence V. May in 1939 and they settled in West Lafayette in 1940. The couple owned the May Electric Co. on State St. and later the May Co. on South River Road.

For several years she served as director of funeral dinners and wedding receptions at the Federated Church of West Lafayette. She is a Circle member of the church and also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Lafayette Home Hospital.

Cards are welcome, but the family asks that no gifts be given.
