Ernest Medley
E r n e s t L a w r e n c e Medley, 88, of Delphi, passed away Dec. 4, 2006, at 9:25 p.m. at Home Hospital in Lafayette. He was born in Yeoman Jan. 16, 1918, to Grover C. Sr. and A. Maud Burris Medley. He was married March 3, 1945, in Delphi, to Luetta C. Leibert, who preceded him in death March 15, 1997.

Mr. Medley retired in 1982 as a carpenter with the Carpenter's Union Local 215. He had been a carpenter for over 61 years. He enjoyed woodworking.

He attended Pittsburg and Kentland schools.

Mr. Medley was a 60-year member of Delphi First Presbyterian Church and had served as a deacon.

Surviving are one son, Gary "Butch" R. Medley of Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Rita Sue Hodges (husband: Bob) of Panama City, Fla.; a sister, Wilma L. Benner of Lafayette; eight grandchildren, Debra Haas (husband: James), Sherri Replogle (husband: Tom), Gary Medley Jr., Terri Chancey (husband: Darrell), Lisa Gebhardt (husband: David), Tracy Allen (husband: Barry), Melissa Brand (husband: Doug) and Michele Hodges (friend: Wayne); 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Glen, Paul and Grover Medley Jr. and a grandson, Robert Hodges.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home in Delphi. Services will be held there Friday at 11 a.m., Pastor Louis Sandos officiating. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery in Delphi.
