APC moves forward with comprehensive land use plan
By Debbie Lowe

Preparation is nearly finished for Carroll County to pursue the development of a comprehensive land use plan. The plan will be designed to guide county leaders in the future to determine the best possible uses for parcels of land in the county.

County zoning administrator Dale Huffer reported at a recent meeting the contract with Ground Rules, Inc., the firm proposed to be hired to lead the development process, has not been inked.

Huffer said details were still being "worked out" between the firm, area plan commission attorney Patrick Manahan, and the area plan office.

"The minute the contract is signed, the clock starts ticking," Huffer said.

He recommended all components be in place prior to the signing. To that end, the steering committee should be formed soon, according to Huffer. The committee will guide the development firm and should be ready to convene when the contract is signed.

The steering committee is designed to include representatives from all geographical areas and facets of the county. Member suggestions can be made to Huffer by calling (765) 564- 4468.

Although APC does not usually have a December meeting, the group tentatively set Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. as the date to review the contract for signing.

Board of Zoning Appeals

Twin Lakes Investment L.L.C. was granted a variance from a seven-foot setback to a four-foot setback, for lot 36 at the Bridgeview Condominiums, located on the south shore of Lake Freeman in Carroll County.

Building plans were approved by the state. The first condominium is expected to be finished in mid-December.
