Joseph Carol Reef
Flora, formerly Flora, formerly of the Cutler area, died at 5:06 p.m. Nov. 17, 2006, at LafayetteHome Hospital. Born June 24, 1924, in Cutler, he was the son of Robert Louis and Geneva Barnard Reef. He graduated from Cutler High School in 1943. On Oct. 28, 1953, inCutler, hemarried Marjorie Peterson Sheagley, who survives. Mr. Reef farmed in the Cutler area and is retired. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division from 1944 to 1946 in Germany. He was a member of the Cutler Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, deacon and trustee. He was a 50-plus year member of the Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the CutlerVolunteer Fire Department, serving over 25 years. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Bob Reef (wife: Heidi) and Scott Sheagley (wife: Jill, all of Bringhurst; two sisters, Rosemary Dyer (husband: Bob) of Cutler and Phyllis Cook of Flora; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven O. Sheagley; two brothers, Richard Reef and Mike Reef; and one sister, Lois Jean Million. Services were held Tuesday at Baker Funeral Home, Flora (www.bakerfh.com). Pastor CharlesCompton officiated.Burial was at Ball Hill Cemetery, Cutler. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to the Cutler Presbyterian Church. Envelops are available at the funeral home. |
