Two Carroll County businesses are honored for longevity

Gov. Mitch Daniels honored two Carroll County businesses for longevity and community service Nov. 14 during the Governor's annual Century and Half Century Business Awards ceremony.

Brewster Insurance Agency Inc., Burlington, and Bush Veterinary Services P.C., Flora, were presented with Half Century Awards. Joining Gov. Daniels in honoring these

Hoosier firms in the Indiana State Capitol ceremony were Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman and Indiana Secretary of Commerce Michael S. Maurer.

"These companies are the foundation of economic growth for our state. Home-grown Indiana companies like these provide the stability and longstanding community involvement that typifies our traditional Hoosier values," said Daniels.

The Governor's Century and Half Century Business Awards honor Indiana businesses that have remained in operation for 100 or 50 years or more and have also demonstrated a history of community service. More than 1,000 companies from across Indiana have been recognized during the 16-year history of the Awards.

Brewster Insurance Agency Inc. is a fourth generation, family owned business that has served the Town of Burlington since 1928. Currently managed by Carla Brewster, Brewster Insurance has received numerous industry awards placing them at the top of the list of insurance agencies in the state. Established in 1954 by John A.

Bush, Bush Veterinary Services P.C. initially offered small and large animal services. Now owned and operated by son Randy Bush and his wife, Julie, the practice has expanded and now has a total of three veterinarians on staff and a large animal hospital.

Nominated by individuals or organizations within the same community, the Century and Half Century Awards honor Indiana's well-established companies and their outstanding contributions to the economic growth and prosperity of the state.
