Margo Smith Draper

Margo Marie Smith Draper, 52, of Delphi, died Nov. 1 at 9:45 p.m. at St. F r a n c i s Hospital in Beech Grove. She had been a patient there for four weeks, and had battled cancer since January 1999.

She was born Aug. 15, 1954, in Lafayette, to Russell and Betty Allen Smith, both of Delphi, who survive.

She was a 1972 graduate of Delphi High School and received her associate degree in office administration from the Indiana Business of Technology in Indianapolis in 1973.

Draper worked for the former National Homes in Lafayette in bookkeeping. She also co-operated Smitty's Tacos in Delphi for 23 years, until this spring when she could not work due to health issues.

She was a member of the Camden United Methodist Church and a former member of Delphi Psi Iota Xi Sorority. Draper enjoyed her pet cat and cooking and reading cookbooks and was an avid fan of Indiana University basketball, Colts football, NASCAR.

Surviving with her parents are two daughters, Dawn Achor (husband: Kyle) of Monticello and Erica L. Draper of Delphi; one son, Robert "BJ" Draper of Bringhurst; one sister, Nedda C. Smith of Delphi; one brother, David Smith (wife: Anita) of Camden; two grandchildren, Lewis and Megan Achor; and childhood friend, Pat Isaacs Mulbarger, of Delphi.

She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Kathy, and a nephew, Aaron.

Services were held Sunday at the First Assembly of God Church in Pittsburg. The Rev. Dan Gottschalk and Pastor Brent Oliver officiated. Burial was at the Masonic Cemetery in Delphi.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Camden United Methodist Church. Envelopes are available at the church.

Abbott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
