Bug-eyed over bugs
 | | Tom Turpin, professor of entomology at Purdue, brought some of his friends to Carroll Elementary last Friday. Accompanying him were a Madagascar cockroach, a tropical millipede, a mint-green hornworm, and a fuzzy tarantula. As an extension of the annual Bug Bowl at Purdue, the large cockroach demonstrated how it could pull a miniature toy tractor. Tommy Robertson (pictured in blue shirt) had to touch the cockroach to make sure it was real. In the other photo, Turpin puts a millipede mustache on Gannon Guinn. All the students had a chance to hold or touch the bugs. The program was presented to first graders and sponsored by Carroll County Pork Producers. Comet photos by Jennifer Archibald |
