Food Finders finds new opportunity Local food banks and their patrons will see increases in the quality and variety of food products offered through Food Finders of Lafayette, due to a new alliance between Food Finders Food Bank and America's Second Harvest, the nation's first and largest food bank chain. Food Finders Executive Director Barbara Ahler said the timing is right for the two organizations to join. She explained the alliance will improve food quality and variety in several ways, citing access to better foods, meeting patrons' quality needs, product movement and tracking, and creating a state-wide link for Indiana's food banks. America's Second Harvest Regional Field Services Representative Cornelius Henderson joined Food Finders Vice-Chair Hank Wadsworth at the food bank's recent 25th anniversary banquet to make the announcement. Wadsworth said Food Finders has experienced many recent changes in its food sources and programs, and has seen a drastic reduction in donated salvage food. There will be no name change for Food Finders. The new relationship makes Food Finders the only food bank that provides product to counties in its existing service area, including Carroll County. |
